After my last commentary on the state
of the country and my comments on Commissioner Felix, several people called me
and asked my opinion on the morality of the Commissioner planning to plant
drugs on some woman. And why that action did not outrage me.
Now I have a few observations on this
matter, first the tape could have been doctored and edited to sound the way
that it did, many people including myself and Adam Harris are convinced of it,
so its authenticity is yet to be established; secondly even if it were
authentic, on the tape in question what is supposed to be the voice of Winston Felix
was not suggesting that the woman be framed and jailed for the possession of
drugs, he was suggesting a ploy to detain her, a ploy he apparently did not
execute since the woman went to Trinidad and returned unimpeded, as to the
morality of this I leave that to you, ladies and gentlemen but I am not
outraged by it, I lost the ability to be outraged by anything done in this
country a long time ago.
My capacity to be outraged at law
enforcement officials in this country diminished when the black clothes police who
were then, according to amnesty International, under effective civilian
political control entered the house of one Shaka Blair at Buxton and shot him
in cold blood in front of his wife and 9 year old son. They then planted a gun
on him with one spent shell alleging that he was shooting it out with the
police thereby forcing them to shoot back. After this act and up to this day,
the PPP cannot figure out why people in Buxton hate their guts.
My capacity to be outraged at law
enforcement officials in this country diminished when at least 5 persons were beaten
to death when in police custody at various police stations around the country over
the past 6-9 years according to Amnesty International.
My capacity to be outraged at law
enforcement officials in this country diminished when BASS officers at Corriverton
shot into a crowd of protesting Muslims killing two of them and wounding many others.
My capacity to be outraged at law
enforcement officials in this country diminished when one Brian King was taken
to a dark spot in Charles Street, in the opposite direction to the Brickdam
police station from where he was picked up, and shot in the mouth by the
police. The police then asked us to believe the unlikely story that Blair
accommodated them by moving his lips out if the way so that they can shoot him
in the teeth without damaging his lips! No ladies and gentlemen the gun's muzzle
was pushed into the man's mouth against his teeth and fired!
My capacity to be outraged at law
enforcement officials in this country diminished when Sam Hinds hiding behind a
decision of the advisory Committee on Broadcasting not to grant any new
television licenses until a broadcast authority was formed, victimised me and used
that as an excuse to limit the expansion of VCT and Sharma whilst at the same
time allowing GTV to expand. No new licenses did not mean no expansion of
existing stations, it meant no new stations!
My capacity to be outraged at law
enforcement officials in this country diminished when a few youths including
Yohanse Douglas, Ronson Gray and young Goodnight were shot by trigger happy vigilante
police officers on Sheriff Street, and my outrage deepened when I learned that
there was a police plot to plant weapons on these youth who were executed for
no reason whatsoever except perhaps that the were black, guess who said that he
was not going to have anything to do with this deception, if you guessed
Winston Felix you guessed right, this was told to me by a deputy commissioner
at the time.
My capacity to be outraged with the manipulation
of the law in this country diminished when a friend of mine called Fazil Rayman
was systematically pauperised for no other reason than that he was a PNC
supporter, a former regional Chairman in the PNC's time and his wife was a PNC
Member of Parliament. I will not even go into the differences in competence and
honesty between Fazil Rayman and the current region 3 Regional Chairman former Hog Island school teacher Dookie.
My capacity to be outraged with the
manipulation of the law in this country diminished when numerous other persons
including members of my family were systematically persecuted by the PPP for
being pro PNC!
My capacity to be outraged with the
manipulation of the law in this country diminished when I was charged by the
NFMU for operating a wireless FM transmitter and placed before a magistrate on
the 9th of November 2001, and then on the 27th of
November 2001 18 days later Gajraj ordered a search of my premises and with
that criminal from the NFMU mickeymouse, an arrogant little twerp who enjoys
walking into people's property and seizing their equipment, along with nearly a
dozen police offers entered my premises at Versailles with a search and seize
warrant signed by a justice of the peace and the took away my transmitter to
broadcast FM in this country. Ladies and gentlemen the common law right to
seize this equipment went out the window the day I was charged and placed in
front of the magistrate, at that point it became a legal matter in the courts
and only the Magistrate could have ordered the seizure of this equipment 20
days later, not some misinformed Justice of the Peace who did not understand
the consequences of Gajraj's agenda.
My capacity to be outraged with the
manipulation of the law in this country diminished when channels 6 and 9 were
shut down by Sam Hinds for expressing their fundamental right to free speech.
The public may be interested to know that in 2004 I refused to pay any
broadcast license fee until the conditions which are contained in the
modification to the wireless telegraphy act by the PPP be removed from my
license, last week the Supreme Court agreed with me and ruled that the
conditions placed in my broadcast license be removed since they were being
abused and were contravening my right to freedom of speech.
My capacity to be outraged with the
manipulation of the law in this country diminished when Bharat Jagdeo betrayed
the Jagdeo/Hoyte Dialog by not honouring agreements he and Hoyte signed on to.
My capacity to be outraged with the
manipulation of the law in this country diminished when the Jagdeo/Corbin Communiqué
ended in betrayal after legally signing on to its conditions.
My outrage with the manipulation of the
law in this country diminished when Bharat Jagdeo refused to appoint Justice
Claudette Singh as chief justice, twice! once before Carl Singh was appointed and
now.
My capacity to be outraged with the
manipulation of the law in this country diminished when I became aware that
certain persons were being employed outside the public service commission rules
and regulations at huge salaries by Roger Luncheon so that they can be slaves
to the executive thus making them not public servants but private PPP servants.
Ladies and gentlemen I can go on forever,
the list is long and sooner or later we will have to have an accounting.
Nothing outrages me anymore, I have
become immune, now it is just another item in a long list of abuses we have had
to endure in this country since the day when we became independent, is this why
Burnham and Jagan fought for independence from the British?
Did they fight for independence from the
British so that we can perpetrate atrocities on each other forever?
So ladies and gentlemen what will it be?
Will you just leave Guyana? Or will you at least make one final attempt to
change things? We are a wonderful people not as violent as our Jamaican
brothers, not as snotty as our Trinidadian brothers not as contemptuous as our
Barbadian brothers, we are a more friendly and hospitable people everyone who
visits us here say so. Why can't we be friendly and hospitable to each other?
